Somalia's deputy interior and internal security minister of interim Jubaland administration say that they have killed at least 32 militants in deadly battle in Gedo region.

Mr. Abdirashid National Media that its soldiers clashed with Al Shabab fighters in parts of Gedo region, adding that 32 rebels had been killed also said that several Al Shabaab members have been captured alive during the clashes.

The battle zones are under control of Jubaland forces, according to Mr. Janan who spoke to National Media based in Mogadishu.

The radical group of Al Shabab was driven out much of south and central Somalia but still controls large swaths of rural areas where they launch attacks on government troops backed by African Union forces.
