
Somali MP visits a location where 14 innocent civilians lost their lives
The MP has confessed the death of 14 people including traditional elders who were all buried in Awdiinle location.
The death of these people come after Al-Shabab militants attacked Ethiopian troops while they were in crowded area in the location, and the Ethiopian troops indiscriminately fired back, and in that result the death of these 14 civilians has occurred.
"Our visit in the location was to evaluate how things have happen, and we were told that the Ethiopian troops got information that there are armed Al-Shabab militants in a place where the local residents had traditional ritual festival, and upon arrival one of the Al-Shabab member in the area has opened fire at an Ethiopian soldier and killed him, and in response to that the Ethiopian troops indiscriminately opened fire which has resulted the death of these 14 unarmed civilians” said MP Yarow
The MP has also added that they meet with the commanders of the Ethiopian troops and clearly explained to them how things started and ended.
"The AU troops have admitted that they went to the place where the ritual was taking place after receiving information that there are some Al-Shabab elements in the place where the ceremony was taking place, but the residents fearing from Al-Shabab have agreed that they should not give information leading to where the Al-Shabab men are, and after leaving the place one of the Al-Shabab men started opening at the Ethiopian troops and killed a soldier and in response the Ethiopian troops fired and killed 14 of the civilians in the area, and they also told us that they will further investigate the matter” added MP Yarow.
Finally the MP has concluded his interview with SONNA that a fact finding committee will be appointed for the fatal issue in which innocent civilians have lost their lives.
