
River Shabelle breaks its banks and devastates crops
Some of the locations which the river has devastated the crop plantations are Tugarey, Mandhere.
The location commissioner of Tugarey location has spoken to radio Mogadishu and told then the vast devastation caused by the river.
"The River has caused devastation of several hectors of vegetables and fruits and as well killed livestock such as goats, sheep and cattle, and if immediate response is not made by the Somali government and the international humanitarian agencies such as FAO, the river will definitely cause more than it has caused now” said Tugarey village commissioner.
River shabelle has brought water just a week ago after it has been absolutely dry, for more than 4 months, and according to elderly people who have ever been living around the banks of river shablle said that the river has once been without water for months for 35 years down the line.
