
Mombasa Court sentences to death Sheikh Mohamed Idris' 'killer'
In his ruling, Justice Martin Muya,
found Said guilty of murdering Sheikh Idris in June 2014.
Sheikh Idris was a prominent Muslim
cleric at the controversial Sakina Mosque in Majengo Mombasa.
Idris was gunned down in June 2014
as he prepared to enter a Mosque in Likoni.
Said, by then, was also suspected to
have attacked a church at Likoni and killed several faithful.
Chief Magistrate Maxswel Gacheru
then ruled that Sudi be remanded after police made a successful application.
Said had also been charged with
being in possession of a grenade, pistol, four bullets and also being in
possession of 108 pieces of DVD/CDs for purposes of instigating a terrorist
act.
Sudi’s family members broke into
tears in the courtroom condemning the ruling leading to a brief disruption of
the court session for a couple of minutes.
