    The Upper House of the Federal Parliament of Somalia is set to pass the National Elections bill, which has been debating in the House in recent days, after it issued a committee for the bill to be approved.

The Upper House of the Federal Parliament of Somalia is set to pass the National Elections bill, which has been debating in the House in recent days, after it issued a committee for the bill to be approved.
In the past few days the debate in the Upper House on this bill has been subject to some differences in opinion as some lawmakers have proposed some provisions in the bill and proposed amendments to other provisions.
Female senators in the Upper House have a few days ago been saddened by section 23 of section 4 of the law, which addresses 30 percent quota for women’s.
Female Senators in the House of Representatives argue that 30% of seats should be reserved for women, which is considered unconstitutional. Contrary to Article 89 of the Constitution.
The House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia passed the law on December 28, 2019, and when it is passed by the Upper House.
The draft law will become a law when signed by President of the Federal Republic Somalia HE Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.
