Two al Shabaab terrorists arrested over Lamu attack that left three dead.
Two suspected al Shabaab militants, on police radar since an
attack that left three dead, were arrested on Friday evening at Pangani area in
Lamu West.
The two were among fighters of the Somalia-based terror
group who have been carrying out attacks in Lamu county, said Lamu CID boss
Prosper Bosire.
He said county CID officers arrested the Kenyan-born Somalis
aged 21 and 22 and took them to an undisclosed location in Lamu.
Bosire said a motorcycle said to have been used by the
militants in the attack in Kaisari village last Sunday was recovered. One
person was injured in the attack.
The names of the suspects had been concealed so as not to
jeopardise investigations and for security reasons, he said.
The police boss said officers were compiling evidence for
use in charging the two with terrorism and the killing of the three in Kaisari
village, Pandanguo.
Operation Linda Boni, aimed at flashing the militants out of
Boni Forest, was expanded to Pangani, Witu, Koreni and Bodhei.
Kenya Defence Forces soldiers gunned four militants down in the forest on Monday.
